01 Overview

Indian Hill, OH Transformation

The most successful outdoor spaces begin with a single, unified vision — not a series of additions made over time. Garden Path was engaged early in the new home planning process, well before construction began, to develop a comprehensive master plan for the complete outdoor environment. Pool placement, masonry features, patio design, gathering areas, lighting, and plantings were all resolved together, ensuring that every element would work in harmony with the architecture and with each other.

In the rear, an 18’ by 36’ Gunite pool was installed by Klimat Master Pools. The pool was complimented by clean limestone coping and a stone veneer water wall, and then surrounded by a simple, diagonal cut concrete patio.

The clients opted for a gas fire pit area to gather with family and friends and strategic plantings to accent the entire home and add privacy.

Materials & Selections

Limestone Coping — A refined, neutral edge at the pool perimeter. Limestone’s natural tonal variation keeps the waterline calm and allows the surrounding landscape to remain the visual focus.

Sandstone Pavers — Used throughout the natural stone patio, sandstone introduces warmth and texture at grade while maintaining continuity with the cooler tones of the pool deck.

Halquist Natural Stone Veneer — Applied to the water wall feature, this natural veneer creates a layered, structural quality that feels integral to the masonry rather than applied to it.

Allan Block Classic Wall Block — Retaining walls throughout the property are built with Allan Block’s Classic series — consistent in appearance, engineered for long-term structural performance through Ohio’s demanding freeze-thaw conditions.

Brushed Concrete — Finished with a diagonal cut pattern, the pool surround is slip-resistant, low-maintenance, and precise in appearance — a clean foil to the natural stone elements that define the rest of the space.
